Over the Covid, We're Not Out of the Woods (to Grandmother's house we go)

Ah. Truly my favorite time of the year and my favorite holiday of the year. Christmas!

Not to pee on your presents under the tree; my dogs already did that. One final (won't say warning, but perhaps) piece of advise. Please be careful, and for those that already survived the car ride or the plane trip to see relatives over the holiday use common sense and credible sources of information (like the CDC, NIH, "Saint Fauci," WHO. (Not to be confused with the "Who from Whoville,") Mayo Clinic (and other leading Covid-19 hospitals.)

My early gift this year is nerve damage from 23 months of Long Covid (that I handily turned into an Xmas tree to the left,) but I'm bound and determined to celebrate. Just like Clark Griswold as he started to lose it over the "Jelly of the Month Club,"  bonus and emphatically stated, "Nobody's Leaving! Nobody's Walking Out On This Fun Old Fashioned Family Christmas! Noooo, No, We're All In This Together!"

We are all in this together and need to band together to make this a safe and joyous day. Set aside your religious and politically biased views and use the above sources/advise and apply a little more common sense than Uncle Eddie emptying the RV's toilet into the sewer in front of the house.

To try and lower the tension on the topic, I present to you, "Over the Covid, We're Not Out of the Woods, to Grandmother's house we go!" (based on the holiday poem by Lydia Maria Child,  "Over the River and Through the Wood."*

Over the Covid, we're not out of the woods.

To Grandmother's house we go!

Our car knows the way to carry the "strain"

through the white and drifted snow.

Over the Covid, we're not out of the woods.

To Grandmother's house we go!

Some of us mask, some of us don't

for 'tis Christmas Day.

Over the Covid, we're not out of the woods.

oh, how "Rona" does blow!

It stings the lungs and bites the feet

as brain fog delivers a blow.

Over the Covid, we're not out of the woods.

as Omicron spreads, oh no!

We seem to ignore it's powerful toll

it is a tenable foe!

Over the Covid, we're not out of the woods.

When Grandmother sees us come,

She will say, "O, dear, cover your nose,"

give Rona to everyone!"

Over the Covid, we're not out of the woods.

now Grandmother's mask I spy!

Just stick to the facts, and get your vax

And present your card for pie!

Here's hoping you have a wonderful and safe day. I for one can't wait for my family to gather on my favorite day of the year.

* Before you correct me, I know the poem was written for Thanksgiving. All holidays apply.

  1. This is serious and I hope people will take care of themselves during the period of time. Well, I've also called my assignment writing services in UAE office on remote working around a month.
