Dragon's Breath

Super excited to have Nikki back in the studio of The Butterfly Pavilion Podcast. Despite Ty’s sarcasm, Nikki was NOT in a contract dispute, she started a new job (Dad is super proud,) so she’s been super busy while we’ve had our first guests the last few months; Akiko, Putrino, and Jonathan Howard all talking different aspects of Long Covid. Taking a slight twist this month as we talk television (and streaming) influences over our lives. We open with some poignant comments from a book my wife read from her book club through Sharon McMahon (SharonSaysSo,) “Between Two Kingdoms” by Suleika Jaouad. A powerful book about a young woman hit with cancer, going through treatment, then trying to find herself after successful round(s) of treatment.

I found a lot in common with her journey despite; the decades difference in our age, I’ve never met Oprah, nor been on Stephen Colbert. I did party in my ‘20’s in New York City, have dealt with a myriad of personal interactions with my cancer, and have seen the toll it takes on my wife as a caregiver. Hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did.
